-Reading Logs Due Monthly! (average of 2 per quarter) Read 150 minutes/week or a total of 600 minutes/month. Please have parents initial each day/week/month.  You will need to decide the best reading at home plan for your family!

 Weekly Events:

-Bible:  Memory Verse Quiz each Thursday. Students are responsible for writing the verse reference in their agendas and on a note card to use for studying.  We use the NIV version for all memory verse quizzes.

-Spelling: Lesson Tests each Friday. Lesson work due each Friday; it is assigned the prior Friday. Students who score a “100″ or above on a pre-test for the week’s lesson will do “Challenge” Spelling work in their spelling journals using the Wordly Wise vocabulary words for the week.  Directions are pasted on the inside cover of their journals for both Everyday Spelling and Challenge Spelling.

-Vocabulary: Lesson Tests are each Wednesday.  We complete the work in the workbooks and it is checked together in class.  Students are also given a bonus sheet every Tuesday that they can turn in with their test for extra credit!

-Reading:  When we are working in the Storytown curriculum, lesson tests occur each Thursday and cover story comprehension, vocabulary and other literature concepts taught such as story structure, plot, making predictions, etc.

-Grammar/Writing:  We are working in Shurley Grammar and will do several writing assignments throughout the year!  When these graded assignments come home, please send them back in the Friday folders.  Students will keep a writing folder this year and will bring home all of their writing at the end of the year!

-Science:  Quarters 1 and 3 are Science quarters.  We will teach History in quarters 2 and 4.

-Patrols: Morning patrols should arrive in time to begin morning carpool at 8:00 a.m. sharp and go directly to class when finished with their duties.  Afternoon patrols begin at 3:10 and conclude by 3:20.  Patrols can be picked up on the White side at 3:25 unless your student is in Green carpool.  In that case, he/she will go to the Green side for regular pick up.
