SPIRITWEAR

Short or Long Sleeved Performance Super-T Shirt or Long Sleeved Red Sweatshirt The T-Shirt and/or Sweatshirt is required for many Field Trips and school activities. They must be purchased through Lands’ End and must bear the Dominion Academy logo.

POLARTEC FLEECE JACKET

Navy Blue Full-Zipped Polartec or Fleece Jacket (Lands’ End 18872)

These jackets are the only option for students to wear while in school throughout the day.
Any other outwear cannot be worn during the day except for recess. This jacket may be worn by all grades during the school day.

OUTERWEAR

Students are expected to come to school dressed appropriately for the weather. This means, during colder months, no students should wear shorts or just short-sleeved shirts. Students should come with appropriate coat, hat, and gloves. Even during cold weather, students will have outdoor recess and will be outdoors for carpool. Students not appropriately dressed will not be allowed to participate in outdoor recess. Once indoors, students are required to hang up their outwear. Outerwear may not be worn throughout the day, with the exception of the polartec/fleece jackets or sweaters.

SOCKS

White or navy knee, ankle, crew socks. Ladies are welcome to wear navy or white leggings or tights.

SHOES

Black, brown, or navy non-scuffing dress shoes
Sneakers must have a base that is neutral or light (white, black, or gray only). Trim should be minimal and not draw attention to the shoe (no flashing lights, no bright or neon colors). The selection of sneakers should enhance our goal of a classic look. However, any style of Toms Shoes (www.toms.com) may be worn as part of our dress code. For safety reasons, shoes must have backs. Boots are not shoes.

BELTS

Black, brown, or navy belts must be worn with pants and shorts with belt loops. Girls may wear the Plaid Belt from Lands’ End style # 38229-8JU8

HAIR

Hair must be neat, clean, with no artificial coloring and conservative in cut and style.
Ladies may wear hair bands that do not exceed 2 inches in width (bands may not have additional adornment such as flowers). No hair adornment is allowed, including beading, wraps, bandanas, or hats. Boys’ hair must not fall below the collar-line in the back, or below the eyebrows in the front.

JEWELRY

One set of single-pole, stud earrings is permitted. No dangly, ornate or oversized jewelry is permitted. Only a single cross necklace (or other clearly Christian symbol, such as a dove, praying hands, etc.) may be worn. No more than two bracelets of any type on any wrist may be worn. Boys are not permitted to wear earrings. Rings are permitted but should be minimal.

MAKE-UP

Girls and boys are not permitted to wear any kind of makeup. Girls may only wear clear or natural-colored nail polish.

GENERAL APPEARANCE

Shirts should be tucked in at all times. Belts must be worn at all times with clothing with belt loops. All shorts and skirts must conform to the length requirement, which is no more than 2 inches above the knee.

DRESS DOWN DAYS

The standards for shorts and skirt lengths also apply during dress down days. No sleeveless tops, spaghetti-straps, or any top that reveals skin above the pant or skirt
waistline is permitted. All dress policies, including make-up, jewelry, and general appearance are in-force during dress-down days as well.

CHAPEL DRESS

No shorts are permitted on Chapel Day.
For lower school (K-5) students – boys should wear pants, and girls should wear skirts or jumpers (no pants or shorts for girls). Both boys and girls must wear white shirts on chapel days.
For upper school (6-8) students – boys must wear khaki pants, blue oxford dress shirt and school tie, and girls should wear khaki skirt and blue oxford dress shirt.
